Deep Dive
The 1975 Topps Comic Book Heroes Stickers arrived at a pivotal cultural moment: Marvel had spent the early 70s expanding aggressively into horror, martial arts, and street-level action, and this sticker set captured all of that energy.
The joke caption tradition continued, but Topps's writers were clearly hipper than Donruss's. The 1975 captions reference pop culture touchstones — Easy Rider, hair product ads, kung fu movies — in ways that feel genuinely funny.
