Why This Set Matters

🎨
150 Stickers, All Original Art

Every one of the 150 stickers was hand-drawn by an Argentine artist with no formal affiliation to Marvel. Each sticker includes speech bubbles, comic-book style. While some images reference original Marvel storylines — such as Spider-Man vs. Doc Ock — the majority are entirely new compositions. The quality rivals professional Marvel Comics artists, particularly the Galactus and Silver Surfer images.

⚔️
An Unofficial Secret Wars Retelling

This collection is essentially an unauthorized adaptation of Panini’s Secret Wars. It follows the same narrative logic and plot but scales back the number of characters and the complexity of the original. The result is something wonderful — a hidden gem in the world of sticker collections that tells the Secret Wars story through an entirely Argentine artistic lens.

🧩
Innovative Puzzle Formats

The multi-piece puzzle stickers — called rompecabezas in Argentina — use creative new formats, combining three pieces in a mix of vertical and horizontal orientations. One standout is a three-part puzzle assembling all the heroes together. The album itself is completely original too: every page is designed to look like outer space, featuring stars, planets, and cosmic backgrounds.

🏭
Published by Aladino — A Rivalry Story

Aladino was the fourth most significant Argentine sticker publisher of the 1980s, also producing Garbage Pail Kids, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mario Bros., and My Little Pony collections. The company was founded by a major Argentine confectionery entrepreneur who saw the success his nephews were having with their sticker company Cromy — and launched Aladino purely to compete against them and prove he could take the top spot in the business.

📖
A Secret Second Edition

A second edition of this album was released exclusively in Argentina’s interior provinces — specific states outside Buenos Aires. This regional edition included a supplement with 20 additional stickers, though none of the supplemental characters are from Marvel. The existence of this variant makes the second edition genuinely rare, as distribution was limited to a fraction of the country.

✨
No Rookies, But Remarkable Art

This set doesn’t contain any first card appearances — all featured characters had appeared in earlier Argentine or international sets. What makes it special is the artwork: entirely original illustrations by a local artist that stand alongside professional Marvel art in quality. The Galactus imagery and the assembled-heroes puzzle are particular highlights.

Deep Dive

The 1985 Superhéroes contra el Ataque desde el Espacio Exterior is one of the most charming and unexpected entries in the entire vintage Marvel card catalog. Published by Aladino — an Argentine sticker company with a colorful origin story of its own — this 150-sticker album is an unofficial retelling of Marvel’s Secret Wars event, drawn entirely by a local Argentine artist.

The set follows the broad narrative beats of Panini’s official Secret Wars sticker album but reimagines everything through original artwork. Every sticker includes speech bubbles in the style of a comic book, and while some compositions reference familiar Marvel storylines, the majority are new drawings created specifically for this album. The artistic quality is genuinely impressive — the Galactus and Silver Surfer images in particular rival work by professional Marvel artists.

The album’s design is entirely original as well. Each page features a cosmic outer-space backdrop with stars and planets, fitting the “Attack from Outer Space” title perfectly. The puzzle stickers (rompecabezas) use an innovative three-piece format mixing vertical and horizontal orientations — a design choice unique to this set.

The story behind the publisher adds another layer of interest. Aladino’s owner was a successful confectionery entrepreneur who watched his nephews build a thriving sticker business with Cromy — and decided to launch a competing company purely out of family rivalry. Aladino went on to produce collections for major international licenses including Garbage Pail Kids, TMNT, Mario Bros., and My Little Pony, making it the fourth most significant Argentine sticker publisher of the decade.

A rare second edition exists, distributed only in Argentina’s interior provinces, which included a 20-sticker supplement featuring non-Marvel characters. This regional variant is extremely difficult to find outside of specific Argentine states.
