Why This Set Matters

🇮🇹
Italy’s Second Marvel Album

Following Editoriale Corno’s 1976 album, Ed. DN produced this Spider-Man and Fantastic Four focused album in 1978 — the second known Italian Marvel sticker product.

🕷️
L’Uomo Ragno — The Spider-Man

‘L’Uomo Ragno’ is the Italian name for Spider-Man. This album pairs Spider-Man with the Fantastic Four — a natural combination given that both properties were among Marvel’s most popular in Italy.

🐛
Annihilus True Rookie

Annihilus makes his first trading card appearance in this set — predating his appearances in any English-language card product by nearly a decade.

🌍
Italian Marvel Depth

Italy’s Marvel comics culture in the late 1970s was remarkably deep, with extensive translations published by Editoriale Corno and other publishers. Italian collectors had access to characters that US card manufacturers wouldn’t feature until the late 1980s.

📖
Album Format

Like most European sticker products of the era, this was an album-based set — stickers were meant to be collected and glued into a dedicated album rather than traded individually.

🔍
Limited Documentation

Very little has been documented about this set in English-language collecting resources. The full checklist and character roster are still being researched.

Deep Dive

The Ed. DN L’Uomo Ragno e i Fantastici Quattro album is the second known Italian Marvel sticker product, following Editoriale Corno’s massive 1976 album. Where Corno attempted to cover the entire Marvel Universe in 240 figurine, Ed. DN focused specifically on Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four.

The most significant discovery from this set is Annihilus’s True Rookie status. The Fantastic Four villain makes his first known trading card appearance here in 1978, predating any English-language card by nearly a decade.

Italy’s role in vintage Marvel card history is often overlooked, but the country produced some of the earliest and most comprehensive European Marvel sticker products.
